About Us

BasketBasket is a family run business based in north east Hampshire. Having lived in France, owner Virginia fell in love with baskets but could never find them in the UK. She joined forces with BeSeenToBeGreen.com in January 2007 selling a small range of the Classic styles and went on to expand the range with the launch of BasketBasket in October 2008, as we wanted to offer an eco-friendly alternative to people who share our belief in the demise of the plastic shopping bag.

The baskets are handmade by talented artisans, ensuring these skills are not lost for future generations. They are all made with natural products. The majority come direct from a family run business in Morocco and the round Bolgatanga baskets come from a women's association in northern Ghana, which was created to support the women of this region to improve the quality of their lives through education, loans and mutual self-help.

We will only supply fair trade baskets that have been made with natural materials - none of our baskets will have any plastic - and this is also why we ensure our packaging is as environmentally friendly as possible. Full details can be found on our Delivery page.

Our baskets mainly come via road and sea, but occasionally some have to come via air. To offset this carbon we are members of the Woodland Trust who create new woods throughout the UK to help protect our environment. Details of how amazing trees are can be found here: Woodland Trust.

Our baskets are now appearing in hotels, delicatessens and a variety of shops throughout the UK, as well as homes from California to Cyprus. So please join us in trying to stop the use of plastic bags which cause so much damage to animals and the environment.

We will constantly be updating this website, as well as attending many markets and fairs where we look forward to meeting our customers.
